David first became involved in town government in 2003, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy in RTM District 3 and was elected District 3 Chairman in November 2004. As Chairman, David began organizing collaborative caucuses that brought RTM members and town officials together to discuss issues of importance coming before the RTM.

In November 2005, a year after becoming Chairman of RTM District 3, David was elected Chairman of the RTM Public Works Committee and remained its Chairman until his election to the Board of Selectmen in 2007.

As a practicing NYC attorney, David has been an advocate for Darien commuters and has worked closely with Darien’s town counsel on contracts and litigation strategy. As one of two Democrats currently serving on the Board, David continues to pursue viable solutions for flood mitigation, affordable housing, and capital project prioritization.

As Acting First Selectman during the March 2010 storm, David led the town’s disaster response and saw us back to recovery. Once the town was back on its feet, David championed a review of Darien’s emergency response system to improve communications within and among town agencies in the event of future emergencies.

David is a partner in the law firm of Kavanagh Maloney & Osnato LLP in New York City. He has lived in Darien since 1992 with his wife Carolyn and their two children. Carolyn is also involved in town government, currently serving on the RTM as Chairman of District 3 and is a member of the Planning Zoning and Housing Committee. She is also a member of the Darien Environmental Group and the Darien Energy Task Force.
