Vickie Riccardo, Planning & Zoning Committee

Vickie was elected to Planning & Zoning in November 2009. Prior to that, she served as Chairman of the Charter Revision Commission, 2006-2008.

Vickie RiccardoA History of Service to Darien

Vickie was a member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting (RTM) for seven years, where she served as Chair of District 6 and was a member of the Rules Committee. Vickie also served on the RTM’s Planning Zoning and Housing Committee, Public Safety Committee and Town Government Structure and Administration Committee.

Vickie’s other civic involvement includes volunteering at Tokeneke Elementary School. She is also a former at-large board member of the Darien League of Women Voters.

Focus on Community

During her service on these town bodies, Vickie developed a broad understanding of the inner workings of town Government. She has a special interest in maintaining the small town character of Darien while balancing the needs of developers, property owners and neighbors when a specific project is considered by P&Z. Although Vickie no longer practices law, she was trained as a lawyer and has experience in applying a body of rules to specific cases.

Professional, Educational, and Family Background

Prior to becoming an at-home parent, Vickie worked as a securities lawyer for the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and for Integrated Resources Life Insurance Company. Earlier she was an associate at Manger, Kalison & McBride, a Morristown, NJ law firm, and was the corporate Law Librarian at Prudential Life Insurance Company of America.

Vickie is a graduate of the College of William & Mary. She earned her Master of Library Science and JD degrees at Rutgers University. Vickie has lived in Darien for 14 years with her husband Donald Spencer; they have two daughters.
