Vickie also served on the RTM&#39;s Planning Zoning and Housing Committee, Public Safety Committee and Town Government Structure and Administration Committee. She is also a former at-large board member of the Darien League of Women Voters. When serving as editor of the YWCA of Darien&#39;s newsletter, she received a Volunteer of the Year award.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Through her service on the RTM, Charter Revision Commission and Planning &#038; Zoning Commission, Vickie has developed a broad understanding of the inner workings of Darien&#39;s Government. She has a special interest in assuring that the Board of Selectmen acts openly and publicly considers the fiscal, environmental and long-term consequences of its proposals and decisions. She believes that to reach the best outcomes for all of Darien&#39;s residents, we need Selectmen who respect and listen to one another with the goal of making informed, timely and financially prudent decisions.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Prior to becoming an at-home parent and retiring from the practice of law, Vickie worked as an in-house securities lawyer for the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and for Integrated Resources Life Insurance Company. As Chairman, David began organizing collaborative caucuses that brought RTM members and town officials together to discuss issues of importance coming before the RTM.</p><p>In November 2005, a year after becoming Chairman of RTM District 3, David was elected Chairman of the RTM Public Works Committee and remained its Chairman until his election to the Board of Selectmen in 2007.</p><p>As a practicing NYC attorney, David has been an advocate for Darien commuters and has worked closely with Darien&rsquo;s town counsel on contracts and litigation strategy. As one of two Democrats currently serving on the Board, David continues to pursue viable solutions for flood mitigation, affordable housing, and capital project prioritization.</p><p>As Acting First Selectman during the March 2010 storm, David led the town&rsquo;s disaster response and saw us back to recovery. Once the town was back on its feet, David championed a review of Darien&rsquo;s emergency response system to improve communications within and among town agencies in the event of future emergencies.</p><p>David is a partner in the law firm of Kavanagh Maloney &#038; Osnato LLP in New York City. Eighty three years later, the 15<sup>th</sup> Amendment ensured that right would not be denied on account of race or color. Fifty years from there, the 19<sup>th</sup> Amendment ensured the same right for women.<a

While the low numbers are not surprising, it’s a dramatic difference from the 87% overall turnout in the November 2008 presidential election.</p><p>Please join us during the next few months as we help our hard-working and dedicated Democratic candidates get the message out.
